Event Overview

The Gravity Lab Hackathon is a two-day event that brings together entrepreneurs, students, and community members to develop creative solutions to real-world challenges. Teams will collaborate, build prototypes, and pitch their ideas to a panel of judges for a chance to win funding and support. More than a competition, this event strengthens Flagstaff’s innovation ecosystem by connecting talent, sparking new ventures, and showcasing the region as a hub for forward-thinking problem solving.

This year’s theme: Green technology

The 2025 Gravity Lab Hackathon challenges innovators to develop climate-forward solutions that reflect the unique opportunities—and responsibilities—of Northern Arizona. With its high-altitude environment, dark skies, and rich biodiversity, the region offers an ideal testbed for technologies that reduce emissions, conserve resources, and promote sustainable growth. From smart waste systems and water-saving infrastructure to carbon-tracking platforms and renewable energy innovations, this year’s theme invites participants to build scalable tools that advance a cleaner future for Flagstaff and beyond.
